To save some time when inviting prospects to open an IBKR account, you can create Client Account Templates.
In the Advisor Portal, access Settings and then Account Settings. On the right, click the gear icon next to Client Account Templates. If this is your first time accessing this page, you will not see any account templates listed. Click the + sign to start.
Enter the name for the template, in this example, I’ll create a simple individual account, trading stocks in the US and using margin.
Next you can add the products that will be traded, so in this case stocks. Then if you select the Add button, you can choose the locations, so I’ll select All North America, followed by save. You can continue to add more products or if done, click continue.
Next you can configure financial information, investment objectives and experience, or just click the check skip boxes.
On the next page you can configure the client fees, by choosing the fee strategy –
- Do not charge any fees for managing this account
- Charge fess for this account outside of IBKR – or
- Charge fees for managing this account
- I’ll select do not charge any fees, but note we do have a lesson covering configuring fee set-up.
- Use this section below this to configure other client expenses including commissions, minimum monthly fees, market data and research fees.
- Next, review the client account template details. Select back to go back and edit or just continue.
- Then you’ll see that the account template has been created, click Ok to see it appear on the list of account templates.
You can always go back and edit or delete it.
So now if you send an application to a prospect, as we do here, you can select Yes to use a template and select the template you created previously. Then just click continue to move through the process.
So – that’s how you can easily create a client account template.
