These lessons walk you through how to set up basic trades and how to configure your workspace to your satisfaction. You will learn how to configure the news panel to easily locate news and access available research from IBKR’s providers. Plus, we will help you get underway with several order types, chart configuration, creating watchlists and accessing portfolio information.

Welcome to TWS for Beginners – a great place to start if you are new to the Trader Workstation also known as the TWS Mosaic platform! This course has been broken into a series of video lessons.

We will show you how the TWS Mosaic interface is comprised of several components critical to your trading activity – including the Monitor, Quote Details, Order Entry, Charts, News and Activity Monitor panels.

We will go into detail of the functions of each of the Mosaic panels, as well as show you ways in which you can successfully and easily navigate your way through them.

We will show you how to create a watchlist of specific asset classes, as well as how to configure the News panel to help you follow portfolio-related or stock-specific news.

Each lesson also has complementary Study Note, as well as additional relevant information.

We will show you where to locate:

    1. Hello, thank you for reaching out. The TWS API software can be used on Ubuntu Linux. The TWS trading software itself does not officially support Ubuntu, but some users have reported being able to get it working through Wine or a Windows VM. The API software does not have any specific OS requirements, so it can be used natively on Ubuntu to connect to TWS running on Windows.

  1. I am using Trader Workstation on Linux via the installer provided from IBKR. If you click “Login” there will be a dropdown, select Trader Workstation, click “Try Now”. It will redirect you to the page to download the installer .sh file. Then follow instructions to install it. It worked for me, on Debian based distro.

  2. Is the TWS software and the TWS API software works in AWS EC2 instance which is a Ubuntu Linux environment ??
